Chiesa di San Giacomo dell’Orio

It is a church founded in very ancient times, possibly in the 9th century. It was rebuilt in 1225 and then remodelled in the 16th century and externally the basilical plan with the median apses is preserved, while inside there is a transept, columns, capitals and arches with a Gothic stamp. It is very rich in important paintings by Schiavone, Veronese, Palma the Younger, Maniscalchi, Padovanino, Pittoni and others and on the main altar is “La Vergine con Putto fra i santi Andrea, Giacomo, Cosma e Damiano” by Lorenzo Lotto. Beside the church is the bell tower, a square Veneto – Byzantine tower built in 1225.
