Is it still possible to discover Venice?
It is possibly the most photographed city in the world, there are countless books dedicated to Venice, not to mention the movie sets that still use its wonderful and unique backgrounds, but how many people can claim to have really experienced Venice?
Beyond the stereotypes, the common places and the usual routes, besides St. Marc Square, the Bridge of Sighs and the Rialto Bridge, what is really known about this amphibious city?
Not much indeed!
Even those who venture off the beaten itineraries proposed to mass tourism, do not know where to go or what to look for, and when they do know, they get lost in Venice maze of little streets.
Those who find a hidden treasure or a charming small square, they don’t know how to interpret the stones staring at them speechless, even if they ooze stories, fairy tales and legends … there isn’t anybody there for them to tell them the stories of centuries gone by!.
Well, now there is one!
Hs is a man in love with this city and he decided to share his knowledge of Venice, its history, legends and tales, offering a service which is unique.
Away from tourist usual routes, he is the “codega” who guides people who are curious to discover the hidden soul, the anecdotes of daily life, past and present, the secrets and the magic of this ancient city.
Before public lighting was installed, the city was very dark at night, thus a new profession was born: the codega. They were standing in the streets holding a lantern to escort the passer-bys to their destinations.
Inspired by this historical figure, he is the one who enriches tourists with explanations, anecdotes and stories and provide tips about what and where to eat and drink.
Now you can finally discover a different Venice, “The Other Venice”, which is not in tourist guides.
