The Ball will be located on the first floor (the pianonobile) in an authentic 14th century Palace: Pesaro Papafava, With its precious gothic facade and its elegant quadriform gothic windows overlooking the canal of the Misericordia. The palace will be illuminated entirely with candlelights to create a memorable atmosphere.
Jacques Offenbach takes the real life German poet, E.T.A. Hoffmann, and makes him a character in some of his own, fanciful stories. Offenbach’s drama placing the title character into three, fanciful stories of failed love. The result is one of the grandest and most expressive of all 19th-century French operas.
Hoffmann’s first love is Olympia, an automaton created by the scientist Spalanzani. Hoffmann falls in love with her, not knowing that Olympia is a mechanical doll. The story is seen as a dream suffered: the protagonist’s impossible love for a woman who turns out to be a doll.
21.15: Elegant cocktail with live music.

23.00: Performance of the most beautiful arias from the opera “The Tales of Hoffmann”.
Midnight: Live music and dances.
Dress Code: costume and mask.
Cost: 290 € per person.

The Palace is reachable by 5 minutes walk from Ca D’Oro vaporetto stop: Calle Racchetta, Cannaregio 3764. Reachable also by its water door (in front of the Church of the Misericordia).
